Ed Kay wins the Barnes Bridge for the second time
Bradfield College and Winchester College
Sunday, 11 March 2018
In warming, humid weather the National Winchester Fives Doubles championships had to move after the first round from Bradfield to Winchester. The move did not, however, affect the performance of number one seeds Ed Kay & Will Ellison who won the title together for the first time in 2016; Ed was unable to defend the title last year because of commitments to other sports. This year they were able to play together once more and duly won the championship with a decisive victory in the semi-final against CURFC captain, Matt Shaw, and his partner Theo Parker and then in the final against previous winners Dan Grant & Dan Tristao. It capped a wonderful 8 days for Ed as he had become the National Amateur Real Tennis Singles champion the previous weekend.

With 12 national and regional singles titles and 19 such doubles titles Ed is now second only to Dave Hebden in the list of Cambridge champions.
