More success for Ed Kay in the lead-up to the National Singles

Following his success in winning both the Singles and the Doubles at the London Open, Ed Kay replicated the achievement at the West of England Open Championships at Marlborough College, though this time with a different Doubles partner.

In the Singles Ed beat Ben Kirwan of Oxford University, CURFC’s ex-captain Ben Beltrami and Dave Butler, now studying for his Ph.D. at Edinburgh University, on his way to the final against Dan Tristao. The match went to 3 games, with Ed winning 5-11, 11-3, 11-9

The Doubles final likewise went to 3 games. After tough quarter- and semi-final matches against Kirwan & Whitham from Oxford University and Arnold & Parker from Bristol University, Ed and his partner Will Ellison defeated Tristao & Dan Grant 10-12, 11-6, 11-8.

Ed now boasts 5 Open Singles titles and 7 Open Doubles titles, to add to a large haul of victories in National Schools, British Universities and U25 events.
